International Affairs Program

The mission of the International Affairs Program at Lafayette College is to educate students to think globally and consider issues from a variety of perspectives. Therefore, because of its goal to have students attain international knowledge and awareness, the program is committed to fostering respect for difference. The interdisciplinary IA Major helps students appreciate the complex interaction that shapes relationships between people of diverse backgrounds. Students enrolled in the program gain a multifaceted perspective on world issues by achieving proficiency in at least one foreign language, as well as knowledge of several academic disciplines (including Economics, History, and Political Science). Additionally, IA encourages its majors to spend at least one semester in a non-English speaking country and to gain experience in other related disciplines.
