Teaching interests:

I teach courses on transnational German literature, film, and media from the eighteenth century to the present. I am particularly interested in questions of social transformation, literary theory, and the political imagination of the postwar period. My previously taught courses include Theater and Revolution, Film and the Third Reich, Franz Kafka, Goethe and Childhood, German Romanticism, Endangered Worlds: A History of Environmentalism in Film, Trauma and Testimony in Post-War German Film, and Transnational Representations of German-Speaking Culture.

Research interests:

My research explores new encounters of German and Jewish culture in contemporary literature, film, and philosophy. I published articles on Walter Benjamin, the Frankfurt School, media practices of miniaturization, and Weimar and postwar intellectual history, and I am currently completing a book on linguistic violence in the works of German Jewish writers in exile.
